Sagrada Familia
Sagrada Familia is a basilica in Barcelona, designed by Antoni Gaudí near Av. Diagonal. The name Sagrada Familia means Holy Family. Sagrada Familia is stunning and mesmerizing to be able to witness first hand. No trip to Barcelona would ever be truly complete without a visit and exploration to this historic and beautiful landmark.
The construction began on March 19th, 1882 and although that was rather long ago, the large Roman Catholic church has yet to be fully completed. Despite this fact, it is named an UNESCO World Heritage Site and in November of 2010, Pope Benedict XVI in fact consecrated and proclaimed it a minor basilica.
Nevertheless, Sagrada Familia is an absolute incredible sight to see and by taking a guided tour with those you came to Barcelona with is definitely something you will not want to miss out on. Not only does it have a rich and interesting history and beautiful exterior and interior, it was also one of Gaudi’s last pieces of work and being able to see it so up close and learn even more about it, is truly extraordinary.
The completion date of Sagrada Família is currently anticipated for the eyar 2026, the centenary of Gaudi’s death.
