Telecommunication Tower Montjuïc
Telecommunication Tower Montjuïc, located in the popular Montjuic neighborhood, Torre Telefonica (as the locals call it) is a telecommunication tower that stands a total of 136 meters (446 feet). Due to its very unique and eye-catching shape and figure, this has quickly become a major tourist attraction to stand next to, take pictures and simply marvel at. The 136 meter high tower stands in Montjuïc near the the Olympic Stadium, and an athlete holding the Olympic Flame.
It was designed by Santiago Calatrava in the year 1989 and was not completed until three years later in 1992. This was due to the 1992 Summer Olympic Games in Barcelona in which it helped to transmit television coverage throughout the entire production.
If you have time during your stay in Barcelona, a visit to Torre Telefonica is definitely a must where you will be able to not only see it but also wander around Olympic Park, where it is located and marvel at the structure that represents an athlete holding the Olympic Flame.
