Jeanneke Pis
Jeanneke Pis is a statue in the center of Brussels of a girl who is peeing. Although its older sibling landmark, Manneken Pis is deemed much more popular amongst those who visit lovely Brussels, Jeanneke Pis is just as fantastic to pay a visit to. Commissioned in the year 1985 and then finally and officially completed and unveiled later on in 1987, the Jeanneke Pis is a rather new addition to the city.
The statue is placed in 1987 on the initiative of local traders in order to attract more visitors to their street. Located across the street from the popular Delirium Café and near the Rue des Bouchers, guests of the city will soon find that they are standing in front of an incredibly unique statue of a squatting girl that is not even a meter tall. She has pigtails and is spreading her knees while urinating with a very wide smile on her face. It is possibly due to the strangeness of this particular statue that keeps luring in tourists to take a peak and snap some photos while in Brussels.
Made of a blue-grey limestone, this unique attraction unfortunately had to recently become protected by iron bars due to the amount of vandalism that was taking place around it. However, it is still a fantastic place to head toward and close to several other attractions.
